In chapter 6, *Howl cries over his ruined hair due to a mix up with his hair dyes. He puts in great effort for his looks.

✺ is a player, he chases girls but loses interests easily. *Howl spends a good amount of his time trying to woo girls. His guitar aids to his charming ability.

✺ is a powerful wizard but acts like a coward when it came down to dealing with the antagonist, the Witch of the Waste. *He ultimately defeated her as his character developed.

✺ dislikes his room being cleaned and likes for it to be kept dirty.

✺ *"hates being pinned down to anything", aka dislikes responsibilities. *Howl went as far as to spread bad rumors about himself to avoid people bothering him. *He even urged Sophie to disguise herself as his mother and go to the king so he could avoid being appointed royal wizard.

✺ is kind hearted deep down despite it all. Example: *He barely charge poor dwellers who comes to him for his help (because Howl is a wizard) despite it being a business establishment.


One important and good overall quote that describes Howl's personality is from our other protagonist, Sophie Hatter; *"Half the time I think [Howl] doesn't care what happens to anyone as long as he's all right—but then I find out how awfully kind he's been to someone. Then I think he's kind just when it suits him—only then I find out he undercharges poor people. I don't know, Your Majesty.
