https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCwWa8EzP8vuI_hvFWOTryEg
Summary: This video is one from a collection of experiment videos done by children. The youtube channel Kids Science, offers videos of hands-on experiments modeled by kids to be done by kids. The video How To Clean Up An Oil Spill shows a real-life example of how fish in the water can not survive with oil. This concern and fear portrays the major problem with oil spills, its harm to our wildlife. The children together identify a problem and immediately know they need to make a change. The two children work together to find a solution. They problem solve by using various materials to clean up the oil spill in the water. Through trial and error the students are successful in getting the oil out of the water and saving the fish. This video highlights the devastation of oil spills, taking action, and never giving up. The children in this video model the experiment, however still promote trying different solutions.

Classroom Usage: This video can be used in our Pollution unit to continue to support student understanding of oil spills, a form of pollution. It shows, from a kids perspective, a real life relatable situation where the oil spill can be harmful. The video aside from being a resource to teach about pollution supports the skill of cause and effect. For everything that happens something will come from it. The video also shows perseverance, a skill that needs to be taught, learned, and practiced. The kids in the video never gave up and tried to use various materials to clean up the oil spill till it was all gone. In a classroom, students could be asked to identify the problem and solution. Students can then brainstorm and experiment with different materials not used in the video. This video promotes critical thinking and offers opportunities for continued investigation.
