a penalty of assault in Illinois if found guilty for a class c misdemeanor is up to 30 days in prison, a fine up to $1500, or both, probation for up to 2 years, community service for 30-120 hours (if no imprisonment), and restitution. a class a misdemeanor can result in imprisonment for up to 1 year, a fine up to $2500, or both. A class 4 felony can result in imprisonment for up to 1-3 years, a fine of up to $25000, or both. if the defendant has one or more prior convictions for the same crime, the state may use sentencing enhancement laws to increase the term of imprisonment to a maximum of 3 to 6 years.

in the NFL players against regular us citizens this chart https://i.kinja-img.com/gawker-media/image/upload/s--hxj1ukI_--/c_scale,fl_progressive,q_80,w_800/18tgp7vdlgm2upng.png shows that NFL football players have more assault and battery charges than the average citizen. why is that? i think because they know they make money and if the person ever did come forward and say anything they could buy a big lawyer to get the player out of it.
in this chart http://media.chicagomag.com//whet/violent-crime-2010.jpg?ver=1331841017 it shows that in the summer time there are more assault and battery charges than in the winter, fall, or spring. and July has the highest number at about 15,000 assault and batter charges.

Dixon, this week is defending himself against domestic assault allegations, made four years ago by former "college sweetheart". on may 7th, 2012 Kristal A. Hansley reported that Dixon "physically chocked" her and "pinned" her up against the wall in the main street apartment the couple shared. A restraining order was issued on may 8th, 2012. Ms. Hansley stated that she broke away by resisting Mr. Dixon's assault, which left her with "red marks" on her neck, forearms, and chest. this week Mr. Dixon claimed the allegations made in the restraining order, the assault and battery, are false. he states "anybody that knows me, know that i respect women, know that i value women, including my own mother working tirelessly to provide an education for me." he added "to really have this come up when i'm talking about how we can make sure that were providing the best opportunity for people in the district is really concerning me."
