         <description><![CDATA[<div><br>-Skin scraped against a rough surface</div><div>-Top layer of skin wears away, exposing numerous blood capillaries</div><div>-Increases the probability for infection<br><br>How to clean it:</div><ol><li>Wash your hands. This helps avoid infection.</li><li>Stop the bleeding.&nbsp;</li><li>Clean the wound.&nbsp;</li><li>Apply an antibiotic or petroleum jelly.&nbsp;</li><li>Cover the wound.&nbsp;</li><li>Change the dressing.&nbsp;</li><li>Get a tetanus shot. (if needed)</li><li>Watch for signs of infection.</li></ol><div>Post care:&nbsp;<br>Needs a lot of looking after and keeping it clean. It also sometimes needs referral.<br><br></div><div><br></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div><br>-Occur when a blunt force is delivered over a sharp bone or a bone that is poorly padded, giving a wound the appearance of a jagged-edge cavity</div><div>-May also result in skin avulsion</div><div><br>Care for a wound:<br><br></div><ol><li>Apply direct pressure to the wound.&nbsp;</li><li>If possible, elevate the wound above the heart.&nbsp;</li><li>Do not tie a tourniquet around an affected limb.&nbsp;</li><li>If bleeding stops, let some water run over the wound.&nbsp;</li><li>If muscle, tendon, bone, or organs are exposed, do not try to push them back into place.</li></ol><div>Post care:<br>You will need sutures for this one. Once you get them you will need to make sure it doesn't become infected.<br><br></div><div><br></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div><br>-Can easily occur during physical activities and can be fatal</div><div>-Direct penetration of tissues can introduce the tetanus bacillus into the bloodstream, possibly making the athlete a victim of lockjaw</div><div>-All severe lacerations and puncture wounds should be referred immediately to a physician<br><br>Care:<br><br></div><ol><li>Wash your hands. This helps prevent infection.</li><li>Stop the bleeding. Apply gentle pressure with a clean bandage or cloth.</li><li>Clean the wound. Rinse the wound with clear water for 5 to 10 minutes.</li><li>Apply an antibiotic.&nbsp;</li><li>Cover the wound.&nbsp;</li><li>Change the dressing.</li><li>Watch for signs of infection.</li></ol><div>After care:<br>After the first 24 to 48 hours, <strong>wash the wound with clean water 2 times a day</strong>.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div><br>-Skin is torn from the body</div><div>-Associated with major bleeding</div><div>-To reattach the torn tissue, the avulsed tissue should be placed on moist gauze, preferably saturated with saline solution</div><div>-Should be taken along with the athlete to the hospital for reattachment<br><br>Care and after care:&nbsp;<strong>Keep the wound clean and dry for the first 24 to 48 hours</strong>, or as your healthcare provider advises. If there is a dressing or bandage, change it when it gets wet or dirty. Otherwise, leave it on for the first 24 hours, then change it once a day or as often as the healthcare provider says.</div><div><br><br></div><div><br></div>]]></description>
