The United States was a power in Asia in the early 1900's with it's bases across the Pacific Ocean. America's main focus in Asia was not conquest but commerce. Roosevelt introduced the Open Door Policy which stated that all nations had the right to trade with China. The imperialism of China lead to rebellions of it's people. The Boxer Rebellion resulted in hundreds of deaths. The tension in China slowly decreased as trade through the country continued to benefit foreign trade.
