Henry a woman chops her hair so she sell (her hair), then buy her husband a chain for his watch. The husband loves his watch, but not as much as he loves his wife. So, in respect for his wife, he sells his watch to buy her combs for her hair, because he knows how much she loves her beauty. Now both of their presents are useless for each other, since one sacrificed her hair for her husband, while he sacrificed his watch. In the end of the story, it's almost incredible to sit back and think about how crazy it is they both sold their  intentional gifts away.
