But his mother tricked her husband by giving him a rock in a blanket instead of baby Zeus. His mother hid him in a cave where he was raised by a goat on the island of Crete. When Zeus was grown up he created a drinkable potion that he gave to his father which made Cronus spit out Zeus' siblings. Then the Titans lead by Atlas fought against the Olympians lead by Zeus for ten years. After no one was victorious Zeus went into the underworld and freed the cyclopes' and the giants that were imprisoned there. In gratitude for their freedom the Cyclopes' gave Zeus the power of thunder and lightning. This made Zeus the power over the sky. They gave Hades the Helm of Darkness which gave him the power over of the underworld, and they gave Poseidon the trident. This gave him the power of the sea. Having vanquished his father and the other Titans, Zeus imprisoned them in the underworld of Tartarus. After the victory, Zeus and his brothers Hades and Poseidon divided the cosmos among them and Zeus got the realm of heaven and skies under his control. From that, he became the ruler of the cosmos and a king of the Olympian Gods. He is seen as arrogant and even selfish for his actions to his wife's and other women. In one instance he turned a mortal women into a cow to hide her from Hera. Zeus is also very easily angered. He would commonly force harsh punishments on mortals and other gods for no reason.
