abandoned buildings can be torn down and the materials can be recycled for a different purpose or can be fixed up to save resources and materials

river-hydro dams

strong winds-wind farms

build green roofs and solar panels

find alternatives for non renewable resources

make non composable items more expensive (plastic)

make decomposable materials cheaper (plastic)

In what ways might the global movement of people to cities be a barrier to making both rural and urban settlements more sustainable?

spend money on houses and buildings while paying construction workers,less money for the project

get rid of resources (lumber) in order to flatten out land

loss of habitats lost by animals due to construction

increase of roadkill

noise pollution due to construction ( complaints)

more electricity being used and created

with all the houses being built it causes heavier traffic

light pollution

What factors need to be considered when trying to find a balance between accommodating growing population and practicing sustainable land?

· make “ green areas “ parks
