One said that 26% of teens say that they use false information in their profiles. This tells us that they recognize they need for anonymity and privacy. Teaching effective methods for selective information sharing is needed and desired.

They were using them and responding to peers, and just complimenting each other. It was a huge ah-ha moment for me that I need to teach them how to have discussions online, and what a conversation is on a discussion board. These skills are going to be more important for us to teach as teachers.

There is an addiction to how much we check our social media. It drives what we do at times. Thinking about my own experiences...I catch myself a lot thinking "this would make a great post on Facebook" or "hold on I need to snapchat this real quick." Not saying these apps are bad, but letting it consume your life is dangerous. If I'm slightly addicted to these apps in my twenties, what is it like for teenagers truly growing up in this digital generation?

We had to discuss that what they say on the computer should be a reflection of what they would say face to face. Some were so eager to say things on the computer, but didn't want to discuss in person and vice versa.
