I found that the ink was really smooth and clear on green, new leaves but the older leaves were too brittle and crumbled under the pressure of the pen. So instead I used them, and their damaged structure to make standing additions to a flat work. I hope it added some movement, and having the dead leaves play into the desire and structure of the map (instead of controlling and determining where lines can be placed as with the green leaves) can symbolise the current relationship of nature and man-made, contrasting with the intentions of my imagined world and creating a reference point for where I want to take my findings about the relationships.

I had better luck with black sharpie, that left a stronger tone. It asks the question, what if plants took over man-made creation ? If all we had left to create art was what could be found on a walk down the merri creek, you’d be left with my work. My mediums include ink, paint, plant rubbings done with crayon and lead pencil, collage using plant foliage collecting during the class-led walks. Even my unnatural materials have been sourced at this site, as I have collected discarded cardboard. It borrows techniques from artists who have imprinted themselves into the natural world, and used nature as their central tool rather than man-made resources. This includes Richard Long’s A Line Made by Walking and Graeme Base’s Uno’s Garden (Base 2013). I think this is.a good place to conclude my first investigation into my imaginary world, as after these works I've finished my trials with paper. I think my AT2 is the place to put my sketches onto the desired mediums. The practice session is done, and I'm ready to make my final piece. But unfortunately, you have to wait !
In conclusion, I am ready to transfer my hybrid sketches to park and soundscape to the massive piece of bark- I think the soundscape belongs to the massive monument to highlight how central sound is to the hybrid nature of my imaginary world.
