The tone of his short story seems optimistic and reflective, because he seems hopeful for a good future. The mood seems modest because he is talking about his accomplishments and look back on his life. The voice of the passage seems intent, he seems happy with who he is and how he will make himself better. The word choice is emotional or how he feels looking back on his life. Imagery isn't really used just about his life and how he looks back on himself and wish he would've noticed the passage of time instead of rushing through moments in his life. Figurative language is not really used in his short story.

In the short story Sarah Silverman has a vey forceful, firm tone because she is implying the truth with everything she says and is very straight forward with her writing. Sarah has the voice of not caring about what others think and other people's opinions. She keeps her voice to herself & is a very independent person by saying "Sometimes when I am really lonely I talk to myself....my dog is right" By being a person who is on there own and keeps to herself. But also being a very inspiration writer and person at the same time.

It is the same with the mood, it made me feel happy, that I will have advantages with a qualities I once had, when I just work on them, instead of being sad that they are acquired.
The word choice is calm, because Coelho describes life the way it is.

In the short story by Steven Pinker, the tone of the story stays positive throughout. He notes that the news and people in general report on what is wrong in the world, not what is good. His words try to convey the people just to think about how our world is getting better, not that it is perfect. The mood of the passage is very inspiring. By allowing the reader to understand the improvements the world has made thus far, it only allows them to think how much better it can get in the future.
