We were given two archives to look from already (Cass archive or Youth culture archive) or I can choose one my self. I think this is a good way to challenge my storytelling skills and see how far I can dig to make an interesting story.
I have to come up with two final outcomes for this project one to return back to the archive and second is sell point. The archive isn't a massive one it is a small one. This archive documents the young culture of the UK mostly punk, grim, pop. They are wanting to be able to document personal and historical content.
Some of the photos that they showed were interesting because it showed us what it was like the 60s to 90s. It showed us how history repeats its self in a short timescale and people share the same experiences.

The shades are from one of my ideas for motorbikes. I did like dry point but it is a messy process. I worked with all sorts of different tools for mark making: wire wool, sandpaper, etching needle, burnishing tool and a roller. I have decided to look into motorbikes in the 50s and 60s and motor bike gangs.  I like the style of clothing and I'm also interested in the era. One of the motorbike gangs that i have looked at is the hell's angles which are world wide and one of the biggest gangs. In the late 60s there was the Rockers. It first came out in America as it was banned in the UK as they thought it would influence young people to become rebels.  The film influenced the biker fashion with the leather jacket and roll up deniem jeans. I found the film interesting, I wouldn't say it is the type of film i would usaully watch. The wild one mostly cam up in my research so I thought it would be useful to watch nd what it about. 
The Film stars Marlon Brando as the leader of the Black Rebel Motorcycle Club going around making trouble. After steeling a racing trophy the gang end up a local town which they continue making trouble until someone dieds. While at the town Johnny (Marlo Brando) falls in love with Kathie. 

The drawing I did was an idea for a poster or the cover for the film. I'm not too sure what i'm going to send to the archive yet or what i'm going to amke a selling point. It is a lot easier to draw than using the real thing you don't have to worry about the distane you hold the pen at. The drawings that I have practiced with air brush does look similer to the digital one. I think that colour would be good on the helmet and because the helemt is in white the colours would stand out more. I think adding colour gives it more defination and the drawing is still blured.

I thought I would test it out my self to see how effective it is. The brush bleeds the paint and sometimes no paint will come out of the brush. I have had a few problems with it a long he way.

I mixed up my own paint which worked okay, but not having the right consistensty can block the airbrush and make the paint splatter. As you are able to see in the photo the paint has bled and splattered everywhere. There also can be other reasons why the paint has bled: the air is too low so paint can't come out at an even pace, and the needle isn't fine enough. I want to stick with airbrushing because it is a useful skill and makes pianting much easier and quicker. It useful for making big paintings. I think there isn't enough drwings and the helemet looks plain. I think adding colour to the drawings could make the helmet more lively and standout.
