Description of the programme

Designed to strengthen interdisciplinary collaboration between the University of Granada and its partner institution. The program focuses on the social dimensions of the climate crisis, water governance, and agroecology, integrating a unique 'South-North' dialogue through the coordinator’s established research networks in Latin America.

Examining China’s Digital Silk Road in Europe as a key dimension of the Belt and Road Initiative, focusing on Chinese investments in telecommunications, 5G, cloud computing, data centres, smart cities, artificial intelligence, digital platforms and undersea cables. Exploring the tension between the opportunities these investments may create for connectivity, innovation and economic modernisation, and the fears they generate around technological dependence, cybersecurity, critical infrastructure, digital sovereignty, and geopolitical influence.
