DO'S:
• Give a brief yet interesting introduction to your topic.
• If you make questions during the introduction make sure to answer them as the presentation progresses.
• Engage with your audience.
• Try to interact with everyone.
• Try to make eyecontact.
• Appear confident.
• Keep things simple yet complex enough so that it makes the audience reflect on the topic.
• Prepare some questions to ask the audience.
• Answer to the questions that might arise.
• Make sure that everything in your presentation is adding to it instead of taking from it.
• Give a clear conclusion referencing what you have already stated.

DON'TS:
• Make an extremely long introduction to the topic.
• Ignore the audience.
• Interact with only one person.
• Avoid eyecontact.
• Appear shy and nervous.
• Make the presentation overcrowded and hard to follow.
• Talk non-stop.
• Adding things to your presentation for the sake of adding things without checking if they contribute something valuable.
• Ignore the audience's questions as they are not in the script.
• Add new information in the conclusion.
• Leave without saying goodbye to the audience.

In this video we can see don'ts in oral presentation. It is good to see some examples about the do's and don'ts when it comes to talk to an audience

<var>Can you identify them?
</var>
Here I write my own notes.

DO'S

Make sure you understand your material so you can explain it clearly and answer any questions. Don't study by heart.

Highlight the main points so they are easy for your audience to remember.

Practice several times before the event, practice

If you can, you could rehearse in an environment similar to the actual presentation so you won't feel like too much preasure when you'll be there.

Maintain eye contact

DON'TS

Avoid standing still. Moving naturally can help convey confidence.

Pretending not to be nervous when it’s obvious can make things worse. Getting to know your nerves and manage them, like breathing, or making pauses, but never ignore them.

Speaking too fast can make it hard for the audience to follow

Reading from a script or slides makes your presentation dull and can disconnect you from the audience.

If you are presenting a powerpoint, don't write all the information you will use, the presentation is helpfull to just highlight the main idea and not to forget the important items.

DO'S

Organize your presentation. When planning a presentation you have to organize the themes you will cover, which come first and last.

Organize the time in which you will deliver the parts of the presentation.

Highlight the main or key points. If there's a lot of information you have to decide in which points you want to emphasize.

Interact with your audience. Make them participate.

Practice your presentation with anticipation. If you have an idea on how you will deliver your presentation you may feel less nervous.

DON'TS

Avoid reading all the information. Instead, explain the themes to the class.

Don't look at the board or floor when talking. Try to make eye contact with the class.

Don't make your presentation too complex. Eliminate unnecessary information.

Don't add new information in the conclusion.

Don't speak in a low tone and too fast. You have to make sure that the audience listen clearly to what you are saying.

Do`s:

. Be clear and concise using appropriate language.

. Use your body language, make eye conctact and use gestures to emphasize the main point.

. Make sure to manage the time.

. Make questions to the audience so you can encourage interaction and also they will pay attention at what you are saying, make them part of it.

. Use short slides and images.

. Practice the presentation several times to manage the anxiety.

. Organize the presentation:

Planning: make sure to keep one key message and use our slides to get that across.

Structure: a good presentation will have a logical ending. Set the scene clearly for the audience but dont spend too much time on the background.

. Give a conclusion to end the presentation.

Don`ts:

. Take time to not speak too quickly, rushing can hinder understanding.

. Reading directly from notes could be seem unprepared and disconnected from the audience.

. Failing to make eye contact or interact can cause you to lose their interest, also when you don`t answer to their questions.

. Getting distracted by our phone or technology.

. Not practicing can result in a disorganized and unclear presentation.

. Too much information on slides, as text, can distract and overwhelm the audience vision.

. Rushing at the end can affect the effectiveness of your message, so we have to manage time.

. Showing excessive nervousness can affect the presentation.
