Helsinki was founded in 1550, as a "rival" of the Hanseatic city of Reval - today known as Tallinn, the capital of Estonia - by King Gustav I of Sweden. The first town was plagued by poverty, wars and diseases. During a long period, it remained as a small coastal town, overshadowed by the most important commercial centers of the Baltic Sea. Helsinki has a complete and very popular public transport system. In the vicinity of the city center there are about ten tram lines. A subway line connects the eastern neighborhoods to the center. Suomenlinna, or Sveaborg, is a fortress built on six islands, in Helsinki, the capital of Finland. It is part of the Unesco World Heritage Site and it is a very touristy place.

The Lutheran Cathedral of Helsinki is an evangelical cult cathedral located in the center of the city of Helsinki, Finland. The church was built as a tribute to Grand Duke Nicholas I, Tsar of Russia; Until the independence of Finland in 1917, it was called "Church of St. Nicholas"

Linnanmäki is an amusement park in Helsinki. It is the largest amusement park in Finland, with approximately one million visitors per year. The park was opened in 1950 and is owned by the Lasten Päivän Säätiö foundation.
