The Soviet Union was unprepared for German invasion which resulted in Stalin's air and tank forces being almost destroyed and more than 4 million Russian lives were lost. The Soviet Union eventually gained an advantage from the bitter Russian winters due to German tactical errors and Hitler's poor decision making. These gave Soviet Union enough time to reorganise its army and military production. Stalin also received a further advantage from the American Lend-Lease aid when the Soviets turned the tides against the Germans. Therefore the re-organisation of the Soviet Union managed to defeat the Germans in their defeat of WWII with the assistance of USA and managed to defeat most of Wehrmacht.
