I chose the “Influence of Greek mythology in modern literature“ for my topic. I will focus on how Greek myths affected the modern world, modern literature and authors such as Rick Riordan, J. R. R. Tolkien or J. K. Rowling. I chose this topic mainly because of Rick Riordans book series called Percy Jackson which is the best book series I´ve ever read and the reason why I became interested in Greek mythology. I don´t know that much about Greek mythology and I love reading which are also the reasons why I chose this topic. The myths usually revolve around gods and godesses, heroes and their adventures, monsters and creatures, moral lessons, love and friendship but they can also be pretty brutal.

Joanne Rowling known as J. K. Rowling is a british author as you probably know. She is most known for her book series (for children and also for adults) called Harry Potter and Fantastic Beasts. She also writes thrillers and detective stories for adults. I adore all book authors because I think that writing a good book is really difficult. I especially adore J. K. Rowling, J. R. R. Tolkien and Rick Riordan because they made up a whole new world and the characters in all of their book series are amazing. I´ ve read Harry Potter (twice in Czech and I definitely want to read it in English) and Fantastic Beasts by J. K. Rowling, I´ve read more than 20 books by Rick Riordan and I recently started reading The Lord of the Rings so I´m really excited about my topic.

Joanne's first attempt at writing, was a story called "Rabbit" which she composed when she was six. When she was eleven or twelve, she wrote a short story, "The Seven Cursed Diamonds". Early in Rowling's life, the support of her mother and sister instilled confidence and enthusiasm for storytelling. Rowling took A-levels in English, French and German, achieving two As and a B and was named head girl (responsible for representing the school at events, makes public speeches). at Wyedean (her high school). Joanne always wanted to be a writer, but chose to study French and the classics at the University of Exeter for practical reasons, influenced by her parents who thought job prospects would be better with evidence of bilingualism. She earned a BA in French from Exeter, graduating in 1987 after a year of study in Paris.

Kindle is an online app for reading but you can also dowload a book and read it when you're offline. You can find it on Google play and App store. Although the app itself and most of the books are free, there are some books that you have to buy. One of the best things about this app is that you can change the font size, background colour and the font itself to suit your preferences. I personally prefer reading normal books because I usually read for a few hours a day and it's not really healthy to stare at a screen for that long. I only use this app when I want to read something in English since there's not many books in English in local libraries. I've had this app for maybe a week and I don't have any problems with using it. I think that it's a great app because you can choose from thousands of novels and I would definitely recommend it. 10/10
