         <description><![CDATA[<p><span style="font-size: 13px;">Granulocytes&nbsp;</span><br></p><p><span style="font-size: 13px;">Characteristics:</span></p><p><span style="font-size: 13px;">Contains differently staining granules in their cytoplasm. The granules are membrane-bound enzymes and act primarily during the digestion of endocytosed particles.</span><br></p><p>Types:</p><p>Neutrophils, basophils, eosinophils.</p><p><span style="font-size: 13px;"><br></span></p><p><span style="font-size: 13px;">Agranulocytes</span><br></p><p><span style="font-size: 13px;">Characteristics:

         <description><![CDATA[<p>Neutrophils: (Multi- lobed nucleus)</p><p>Defends against bacterial or fungal infection. First response to microbial infections. Activities and deaths in large numbers creates pus. Make up 60%-70% of white blood cells.</p><p><span style="font-size: 13px;">Basophils: (Bi- or Tri- lobed)</span><br></p><p>Responsible for allergic and antigen response by releasing histamine causing vasodilation. Nucleus is bi- or tri- lobed.</p><p>Eosinophils: (Bi- lobed)</p><p>Primarily deals with parasitic infections. Nucleus is bi- lobed.</p><p>Lymphocytes: (Eccentric/Odd nucleus)</p><p>Make antibodies that binds to pathogens, block pathogen invasion, activate complement system and enhance pathogen destruction.</p><p>Monocytes: (Kidney- shaped nucleus)</p><p>Involved in phagocytosis. Presents pieces of pathogens which causes antibody response.</p>]]></description>
