farmers breed for myotonia congenita because it is entertaining. myotonia congenita is the condition which causes some goats to go stiff and fall over or " faint " when startled. this serves no purpose to farmers but they can be sold as novelty pets and are highly entertaining.

Cow breeding is an example of artificial selection. The trait they are bred for is either meat or their milk, so cows that are larger in size are more ideal for meat, and cows that produce an abundance of milk are more deal. It is a desired trait because it produces more of meat/milk, so it makes the farmers more money. They would select for this trait by breeding together the larger cows for meat, and the female cows that produce the most milk are involved in the breeding process.

Chicken- farmers bred more docile chickens as well as chickens with larger breasts so that their hoard of chickens is more docile and has more meat to be eaten by consumers. Farmers would 'select' the traits by breeding the largest chickens together, as well as only breeding the most docile chickens.

Pigs are grown as livestock in farms, but these farms are not pleasant ones. Pigs in these farms are selectively bred for weight and size, and also for fast growth, so that each animal will have more meat when slaughtered for consumers. The pigs with the most meat would be reproduced more in order to produce pigs that will hopefully grow to the same size.

GMO's are also known as genetically modified organisms. Desirable genetic traits are implemented into another organism for maximum benefits, even if this is not healthy.

Chickens have been genetically modified to be much larger with more meat for humans to eat. Comparing chickens from the 1950's to now, chickens have grown in size so much and so fast that it is considered abuse to them, as their bodies have not been able to adapt and evolve in time.
