English spelling is complex because of inconsistencies between sounds and letters (p.2).<br>2.Learning phonics alone is not sufficient.<br>3.Phonemes-sounds<br>4.Graphemes-same letters<br>5.Morphemes-base words, suffixes, and prefixes.<br>6.Orthographic Knowledge- understanding patterns (helpful not helpfull)<br>7.Portmanteau-blending 2 words-smog=fog and smoke<br>8.Eponyms-words that take their name from a person or place.<br>9.Visual knowledge-seeing and storing words in our memories.<br>10.Semantic knowledge- knowing the meaning of the words you are spelling.</div>]]></description>
