This excerpt makes me want to start looking at my life differently. It makes me want to stop doing things just because that is what society expects you to do. It makes me want to do what I love and to be strong. One line that really stuck out to me was "I want to know if you can see beauty even when it's not pretty." I like this quote because it wants you to be strong and be able to still be happy and see beauty in the world even if things seem like they are going bad. Another line that struck a chord with me was "I want to know if you will stand in the center of the fire with me and not shrink back." Again, this quote is showing the importance of strength. I feel that is something very important that you should have and will be beneficial in your life.

Makes me feel “Luke” warm in the sense that not everything will be good but there will be good. Like in sports you may win a championship one day but may fumble the ball the next time. All this told me is that not everything will be great when you get to it but you can make great by the time you’re done with it.

This reminds me of what I used to feel like a lot. Especially the lines "I want to know if you can sit with pain, mine or your own, without moving to hide it or fade it, or fix it." and "I want to know if you can get up, after the night of grief and despair, weary and bruised to the bone, and do what needs to be done to feed the children". They really remind me of how I used to be in 8th and 9th grade. I always felt like I couldn't be alone with myself, but I also felt like I couldn't be around anyone. I'm glad I was able to recognize that (though it took a while) and try to do something about it.

"I want to know if you can be alone with yourself and if you truly like the company you keep in the empty moments.”
This is something i have always held to heart. If you cant stand to be alone with yourself willingly, you wont stand to be alone with yourself unwillingly. That is my version of it. What it means is in life you'll be on your own more often than you'd like so if you can't be alone because you don't like that version of you then you should change it. Because if you don't it will be so much more difficult to make it through the times of loneliness life throws at you.

Throughout this excerpt I was filled with a feeling of bittersweet nostalgia and conviction. I was struck with the thought that the author must have felt this sense of isolation yet peace in solitude, as though they are longing to understand and to be understood. “I want to know if you can see beauty even when it’s not pretty, every day, and if you can source your own life from its presence.” This line speaks for the beauty that is the act of learning about yourself and others, to connect that is the beauty of life.

“I want to know if you can sit with pain, mine or your own, without moving to hide it or fade it, or fix it.” This line resonated most with me as a constant reminder of what it means to be well. How despite being genuine, how others see us will never be as we truly are inside. I, as I’m sure many of us do, automatically hide the innermost parts of ourselves and sand them down so that we are not as sharp to our peers. That we may go through crowds without alerting anyone to how we truly feel. Until recently, I was completely unable to be by myself and enjoy just existing without expecting to be productive.

This Excerpt reminds me of how I was when I was younger when
I was carefree and didn't care. The line, "I want to know if you can see beauty even when it's not pretty..." is how i try to live today. The more you grow up the more negative you get. There might not be good situations but always try to think positively.

This excerpt is strong because it makes you think about how honest you are with yourself. The line that sums this article up is, " I want to know if you can be alone with yourself." This truly makes the reader rethink their past decisions and realize their sins. Another line that stands out is, "I want to know if you can disappoint another to be true to yourself." This once again makes the reader understand that people have to be honest with themselves to be truly content.

It brings me back down to earth and reminds me of what is truly important. What is important is being myself no matter the circumstances and if I can live with it. When it says “It doesn’t interest me” and goes on about what background or foundations can be in a persons life. That resonates within me when I think of what I want to become and when I remember what’s important and if I really want something it’s can come with a bit of elbow grease.

As I was reading I felt a sense of longing to want to be more like the writer and truly hone in on how I view myself and the world around me. The line, "I want to know if you can see beauty even if it's not pretty, every day, and if you can source your own life from its presence." really sat with me because I tend to see the beauty in things as an emotional and physical empath. I think the excerpt was wonderfully written and really put things into perspective about how I want myself to be.

This excerpt really makes me think about a lot of things in life and what matters. Where it says “It doesn’t matter to me what you do for a living” shows me that it is deeper than that and about your emotions and how those things aren’t important. For example, “I want to know if you have touched the center of your own sorrow” Is emotional. It makes me think about pain, betrayals, and my own feelings. It’s about opening up and not hiding your feelings.
