Owls Head beach is a place in Maine that I went to with my family. When I went it was very cold. We went on a hike and explored the beach. I picked up rocks and shells to bring home. It smelled like the ocean and there were many plants and trees. There was also a cliff that I hiked the side of. I chose this place because its one of the places that I went to in Maine when my brother got better after being in the hospital for about five months. This place makes me feel happy, calm and secure. I used mostly cool colors to paint my drawing. My safe space is the closest I can paint/draw how my bedroom looks. I chose my bedroom because that is where I feel the most comfortable and away from harm that comes from outside my home. I feel contented and calm when I am inside my bedroom where I can truly be my authentic self without judgement. My safe place is underneath the dining room table from my old apartment. I lived in that apartment for all of my life. Coming to Farmingdale was my first time moving. The space underneath the table is spacious, comforting, and cozy. I chose this as my safe space because when I was younger, my mom and brother used to hit me as a result, I would hide underneath the table. Nobody was able to get to me since they were all too big and I was tiny. I used to hide there whenever I felt scared or uncomfortable. This is a room with 4 picture frames, and a bed. It is plain, but all you really need. The door is there to allude to a larger, more interesting room. 
I chose this for really no specific reason. 
I associate a feeling of familiarity with this image. The 4 frames all mean something. 
I only used 2 polar opposite colors on purpose. It brings out a feeling of nostalgia, a remembrance of when everything was bright colors. The street was the main distraction on my painting because it had darker colors from everything else which makes it stand out more.
