I love everything in this course, however, there are lots of role plays which I found a little bit repetitive but it is also a good thing because we will practice our communication skills which is one of the important things in caring patients. Overall, I love how the speakers teach and the lessons in this course. Thank you so much.

Discussing culture is one of the best topic I personally like, because we can be more knowledgeable to handle patients in this very diverse country. The way you handled the class is very enjoyable, however role playing is not my thing 😅😅 but it will help us to navigate ourselves when we are in the facility. Thus i would like to add as well, that scenarios will be more helpful if it is based on the future residents cases. Therefore we can be more involved on the role playing, thus we can learn more strategies on how to handle them.

The course is very useful for us nurses to improve our communication skills and our perspective about cultural differences. This must be spread out to be learned by many. However, I personally fond it a bit tiring due to a bunch of role play but it impressively taught me a lot and I was able to correct the way I used to communicate and I am really thankful for this. Lastly, you explained everything well and was so patient every time we feel bored and sleepy. You were able to maintain your tone of voice and you looked serious at first but it greatly changed on the following days. Keep it up. Thank you for sharing your talent.

The course is important and it is a good way to understand cultural differences among each other. Anyone coming to this country would be flexible, understanding and not imposing its own beliefs and practices. It is a sign of showing respect and acceptance to the host country to learn the vast multi-culture differences. For the teacher , you were doing great and you have opened our eyes and ears to this kind of topic. Thank you.

This course help us a lot especially in communicating to patients. Through this, it would help us a lot on ways and techniques how to be an effective health worker and able to know also the wordings that we should and should not use in dealing with patients. For our lecturer, she helps us a lot in practicing different scenarios which will boost our communication skills. Just like the sayings "practice makes perfect" and that is what she is trying to do with us, so that in the actual field we have now the confidence to deal with the patients. Also for the topics, maybe we can do it like for only 2 to 3 days and not the whole week because sometimes it's boring to only discuss one topic for the whole week. But this course is so amazing and really helped us with the knowledge that we can surely use in the near future.

I like about this course is how we have been preparing to be a better nurse to our patient. How to deal with them, the proper therapeutic communication we must follow and it builds strong patient relationships and providing effective care. This course really helps us LPN's because it is an eye opening for us. It highlights the importance in truly listening to our patient not just hearing their words. We ensure that our patients feel heard and understood. Ultimately, it enhances or skills and knowledge by practicing role plays in our own group/ partner.

What I like about this course is that I learned a lot about Canadian culture most especially in Nova Scotia. I realize we all have differences most especially our values and beliefs. Also, one thing I really like is that we should be respectful no matter what our differences most especially that Canada right now has lots of immigrants from different countries. It would also be nice if our role plays are more on the long term care part as LPN's because we are dealing more with elderlies in the nursing home rather than patients in the clinic. And also, it would be more realistic for us as we transition to our clinical care practice with Shannex.

This course is very helpful for me, and I guess It will be very beneficial for us in our job as LPNs. I learned a lot about the right way of cimmunucating with our patients/residents in the future. Because, as a nurse whi came fr the Philippines, we really have different way of talking, communicating, approaching and even giving care to our patients. Cultural awareness and competency is very important. And this course taught us a lot about it. To be culturally competent here in Canada is very important. Like what we were taught in school, Canada is a very diverse country. We are dealing with almost all nations all over the world. And all of them have their own culture that we must respect, recognize and acknowledge. Thus, patient-centered care is vital. And for me, what's this course wants us to learn before exposing us to the field is effective communication. And that's what I am learning a lot in this course. If I will suggest anything, maybe a more examples on the nursing home or long term care since all of us will be assigned in nursing home. Because, what we noticed is, some the examples are focused on hospital settings. Regarding the instructor, I cannot say anything but such a great job. She is informative, accept all ideas from us and she is prepared with the lessons. Good job and really this course is a big help to all of us.

With the help of this activity, I have learned a communication skill which I will need at my workplace for example how to approach the patient when they are not at their best time.

-If I talk about your teaching skills, it is clear and understandable, and I didn’t feel bored during the lecture, It was not a one-way lecture where you talked instead you always asked for opinions. All in all, I could say I enjoyed your lecture.

The whole course is very helpful for as an IEN. I learned many things from communication and culture here in Canada. The communication techniques will help me in communicating effectively in my residents. I can suggest next time to use examples in role play that are common in long term facility. This will give us an idea what it be like in actual set up. Maybe next time you can add games for an ice breaker. It can be with the use of an app or actual games just to make more fun.
