A conflict that is still debated today in Kentucky is mountain top removal. This problem has yet to be resolved and is progressively becoming worse. Toxic chemicals used in this fom of coal mining have polluted our citizens oxygen and have polluted our citizens fresh water. Not only has this negatively affected us but mountain top removal has ruined wildlife habitats, decreased the availability of clean water for wildlife , and has even gone as far as killing off native vegetation and native species.

A major conflict in our state is mountain top removal. Because of this option of getting resources and a source of income, many mountains within Kentucky suffer and will eventually deplete. Unfortunately, although there are regulations set in place for this issue, there isn't a resolution sustainable enough to make a difference.

Mountain top removal has been a land use conflict in Kentucky for many years. This problem is still unsolved. Even though people have been trying to resolve this, it still continues to occur, and still continues to be an issue.

A huge problem in our state is mountaintop removal. This is still a conflict in our state. Blowing up mountains for coal has a quicker production for coal. People promised to return to the way it was in the past but not many have done that.

Mountain top removal causes land conflict in our state. one way it could be resolved is to return the land back to the way it was or to fine another way to sustain energy.

Mrs. B~I don't see a resolution yet either. Did you see in the news about the chemical spill in the mountains of WV from a coal-cleaning chemical plant? 300,000 people have a contaminated water supply now! Geez. Who should pay for the clean-up?

A prominent land use conflict occuring in our state is mountaintop removal. This problem is yet to be resolved. Coal companies always make promises that they cause no damage to local ecosystems, but it has been proven that a large amount of toxic waste has been dumped into local mountain streams, and once the coal is extracted from the mountain, the land is almost never reclaimed.

I know it's been answered by everyone else, but the problem still exists and is continuing to devastate Kentucky's land. Mountaintop Removal is a land use conflict that occurs In Kentucky. The problem is unresolved as of late, but efforts are still being made to put an end (or to slow) the issue.
