Online writing tools hold students accountable and also provides teachers with a record of students group discussions, which allows the teacher to scaffold students learning with groups and individuals.

Students need to be taught writing conventions prior to introducing them to digital writing tools so that they can become comfortable with the structure.

It has been a struggle because I learned that prior to this school year, my students had hardly ever used a computer to write outside of their computer class during special area time. Computers had mainly been used during indoor wellness time to play games. I pretty much had to start from scratch and teach students how to change the font and size of the font, and help them understand they they didn't have to understand that they didn't have to press enter after every single sentence. Students were assigned a region of Native Americans, in which they were able to choose on tribe from that region to create a Padlet.
