I’m more curious one what’s going to happen the the main characters, the reason why is because the first 6 pages are pretty much explaining the other side characters and the story hasn’t gotten to any real plot.

The movie Full metal jacket, a Vietnam war based movie, compares to my book since they’re both based in the Vietnam war.

I would choose the song “fortunate son” because it’s played a lot during Vietnam war scenes in war movies. And the lyrics do match up with the war.

In the book the things they carried, the characters had to hold a bunch of stuff; having pounds of military outfits, guns, bags, etc. and having all of these extra things to carry is very heavy.

“they carried USO stationery and pencils and pens. They carried sterno, safety pins, trip flares” and a bunch of other things (too much to add)

An event that could happen in the book is that all of the characters already introduced could all have a fortuitous end later in the book except for the character. But some deaths are definitely feckless and anyone could die at any moment. Thats how war works.
