Yes i agree. Seniors may not be healthy enough to continue working, and

They should retire especially if they have someone stable to help them. However, anyone can retire at anytime according to their preference . Adding on, retiring may not be he best option as they will no longer have a stable income and some may need more money especially if they are taking care of others, eg their children

Answers:I agree and disagree at the same time

As some elderly people would want to retire with the short amount of time they have left.

But some elderly people such as my grandma still wants to work.Its not an agreement but there choice on how they would like to use up their life after their retirement age. Elderly can still get simpler jobs not as tedious, at my local McDonald’s I see elderly working there and they are really nice to kids.

I guess it depends. Some of them even when reaching retirement age, they do not really have a choice and have to keep working to keep up with bills. However if that person is not in the right health condition to work i do not think they should be working but then again i do not think some of them have a choice. If that person is able to retire and keep up with bills then i think it is their choice to make

I agree. Reasons for seniors to stop working when they reach retirement age include as people grow older, their health can deteriorate. Additionally, retirement gives people the time to enjoy the last leg of their life, focus on their own hobbies and family. When older employees retire, it also opens new job opportunities for the younger workers to enter the workforce and generate new ideas. Furthermore, in some physically demanding or fast paced jobs, aging might reduce their efficiency.

It honestly depends. Firstly, one factor is about health. Like what Mrs Sim said, she retired before her retirement age as her health was declining, so she moved into a new phase of exercising and getting back into shape. Secondly, it’s fully up to the retiree. If they feel that they’ve accomplished and found fulfilment in their job, and want to retire, it’s solely their choice. Mrs Sim said she had entered her retirement phase on her own term and think she’s blessed. Thirdly, retirement can also be affected by family background. In Mrs Sim’s case, she retired as her health was declining but also took the time to take care of her mother because her mother was getting weaker and wanted to spend time with her before she lost that opportunity. Lastly, she mentioned that Singapore is an ideal place to retire because it was “home” and did not want to retire in a place with no relatives or family. In addition, Singapore is affordable with a good living space with government support and subsidies and also other communities are supporting those who retire.

I agree however they should have enough saving for the rest of their lives so an average person retires at 60 and the average rate of survival till is 85 so they need enough money to cover for those 25 years on average.

I feel that it depends on each individual senior’s health, interests, and economic stability.

If the senior is of a state of poor health, they should stop pushing themselves and retire. Also, the choice to retire depends on the senior’s interests and preferences. If the senior feels comfortable doing their jobs, or they want to retire to have more time to pursue other interests, they should be allowed to do so.

However, if the senior does not have sufficient money to stop working completely, and they are healthy, they should also be permitted to continue working.

In conclusion, I feel that seniors do not have to stop working at retirement age. It really is completely up to them.

I think that Seniors should not really keep working after they retire as some Seniors have like Mothers and Fathers that they might did not spent too much quality time with and as in the past their parents care for them and raised them and now they are really old (the parents) and since they are going to pass on soon they should spend the last quality time together. But if they completely rely on their children they have a risk of short of money as their children may or may not be like successful so it’s better to have a backup JUST in case only.

Nowadays we see a lot of Seniors outside sweeping floors and doing work that people do not like to do. I think we should not leave them out and give some kindness to them. (As some might be lonely as they have no more family with them) Hence I think it is up to themselves if they want to keep working after retirement as everyone’s lives might not be the same so I think it’s best to open a gate to them if they want to go they can if they don’t want to we don’t force them either

I think that seniors should stop working after their retirement age but it is still their choice of whether or not they would like to or not. (My grandmother is still working even though she is way past the retirement age.)

A few reasons why I think seniors should stop working after their retirement age are:

It might not be healthy for them to continue their work especially if it gives them a lot of stress or tires them out easily.
When they retire, it gives other younger people more opportunities for work.
It is good that they spend the last few years of her life doing what they wanted to do(lifelong goals)

However, they should continue to remain active. While they should retire, it is not good for them to just stay home and not do anything.

Like Mrs Corinne Sim said, she has picked up the ukulele and piano and she continues to go for exercise classes and travls to various places.

While these are good habits some seniors with health problems are not able to do these things. They can still practice their mental capability through simple crosswords and other activities like that.

In a nutshell, I think it is good for seniors to retire after their retirement age retirement age but they should still try to keep as active as possible.

I think that seniors should have the option to decide whether they want to stop working when they reach retirement age. This is because seniors of different situations might feel differently about their work. For example, for some, their work might be their passion and their hobby. So, they don’t mind continuing their work, especially if they have nothing else to do in their spare time. Another reason why a senior would not want to retire is because of financial strains. Although eligible senior citizens do receive money from the government, this may not be enough for some. Some seniors are not doing well financially, with their job being the only thing keeping them afloat. Because of this, forcing them to retire is not ideal. On the other hand, retirement can be good too. This is because if seniors keep on working without enough rest, their health may start to decline. This is also said for their mental health. Some seniors may be workaholics, and think that working is the key to happiness. But because of this, they wont have time to spend to spend time with their family. However, retiring forces them to stop working, and lets them have quality time with their family and fosters closer bonds. In conclusion, retiring has it’s pros and cons. Ultimately, I believe that we should let the seniors decide for themselves.

It does not matter of age but if the seniors are fit enough for the job.

For example,Some seniors suffer from illness like dementia .

If their job requires memory usage, their work may get affected and possibly get in trouble with their boss. It maybe time for them to consider retirement or change to a job with less memory usage .

If a senior is financially unstable, the government offers financial assistance like the silver support scheme to those who had low income when working.

What also matters is if the seniors wants to retire. Some of them love job and have been doing it for years and want to continue working. If they are healthy and in good condition i do not see why they have to retire.

It honestly just depends on the circumstances. Some people retire younger than the retiring age due to health reasons and some people retire older than the retiring age. It just still depends on the senior choice

I do not fully agree with this. Some seniors are sick or struggle financially, so they need to work to have enough money to sustain themselves. However, if the senior is financially stable, or has someone to help them with their health or financial issues, it would be good for them to retire as there would be less stress and helps them manage their health better when they are older. I think that some seniors want to continue working, thinking there is nothing else they really want to do after retirement so this statement really depends on the person.

If the elderly are really actually tired of working then I think that at retirement age they should just stop working and rest because some of the elderly may already be very old

I think it depends on senior. Some seniors may need to continue working if they don't have sufficient savings or pension to support themselves in retirement especially when they do not have anyone else to support them while others who feel that they have sufficient money to support themselves and want to enjoy the last few years of their lives would stop working to do things they really enjoy like spending time with their loved ones.

I agree and disagree. I think it really depends on the situation the senior is in.

For example, if the senior is still in good health and really enjoys their job they should work for as long as they want. They also might not have any choice to continue working as they have no other source of money or they might want to continue working so that they have something to do in life instead of remaining at home everyday not doing anything.

However, if the senior’s health is declining and they have a source of money which is most probably from their children, I think they should stop working and take care of their health, focusing on getting better. They also could be tired of working and want to relax more after having worked for so many years already and they might want to focus more on their hobbies or learning something new.

Overall, it is up to the senior and what they want to do with their life.
