Welcome to Mrs. Gauntt's Webpage! My mission is to support the social, emotional, and academic needs of Wilshire students, families, and staff through guidance lessons, counseling, support services, and community connections.

I've been working for HEB ISD since 2010. I taught first grade at Wilshire for five years, before moving to the counseling position in 2015. I worked on my master's degree for school counseling at Dallas Baptist University, while I was a classroom teacher. I love Wilshire Elementary! Wilshire students and families hold a special place in my heart and I couldn't imagine being anywhere else. In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my husband and our dogs, practicing yoga, and going on trips in our camper.

CONFIDENTIALITY

While it is important that a student's conversations with a school counselor be kept confidential, confidentiality does have its limitations. According to the American School Counselor Association's Ethical Standards for School Counselors, counselors must "keep information confidential unless legal requirements demand that confidential information be revealed or a breach is required to prevent serious and foreseeable harm to the student."(American School Counselor Association [ASCA], 2010).

The most frequent type of breaches include a student verbalizing the following:

1. Verbal, Physical or Sexual Abuse

2. Neglect

3. A desire to harm him/herself

4. A desire to harm someone else

5. An unreported sexual assault

Transition from Virtual Learning Option to Traditional School Timeline 2020-2021

Parents will only be able to request for their child to be moved from Virtual Learning to Traditional Learning at the end of every six weeks.
However, the request needs to be sent to Wilshire (by email) two weeks prior to the end of the current six weeks.
Please see the cut-off dates below for each six weeks.
