         <description><![CDATA[<p>Oulla Dahhan</p><p><br/></p><p>Students are incredibly engaged and invested in the lesson when a gallery walk is the focus of the lesson that day. They get to move around and use some of that excess energy to good use. I feel the gallery walk has so much potential for fostering critical thinking, collaboration,  and problem solving skills in future students. I would adapt this strategy to encourage the visitors of each station to build and ask another question that adds to the conversation.</p>]]></description>

By encountering content in multiple forms, such as pictures, written explanations, and group conversations, they can make meaningful connections to new vocabulary and concepts. Moving between stations allows them to hear and use academic language in context, reinforcing understanding through repetition and social interaction. Additionally, bilingual students benefit from working with peers who may help clarify ideas in both English and their native language. This strategy creates a low-pressure environment where they can practice language skills while actively engaging with content.</p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>Question 1:</p><p>The Gallery Walk strategy enhances student engagement by incorporating movement, variety, and collaboration into the learning process. As students move around the room, their energy and focus increase, helping them stay attentive. Each station offers new information or perspectives, which keeps curiosity high and prevents lessons from feeling repetitive. The activity requires active participation, discussion, writing, and problem-solving, which increases ownership of learning. Working with peers encourages social interaction and makes the experience more enjoyable, while the lower-pressure environment helps more students feel comfortable contributing. The novelty of shifting locations also refocuses attention and supports deeper thinking.</p><p>Overall, moving around and interacting with various stations boosts involvement by making learning dynamic, hands-on, and socially connected, resulting in higher attention and more meaningful engagement.</p><p><br/></p><p>Question 2:&nbsp;</p><p>Even though we did not actually try the Gallery Walk during this activity, I’ve used it in the past, and I feel confident that it has strong potential to foster critical thinking and problem-solving skills in future students. Because students rotate through stations and encounter new perspectives or challenges at each stop, they are encouraged to compare ideas, question assumptions, and build on the thinking of others. This naturally pushes them beyond surface-level responses and helps them practice evaluating, analyzing, and synthesizing information, key components of critical thinking.</p><p>Also, I’ve noticed young students like getting up and doing stations. They also like sharing.</p><p>To encourage even deeper thinking, (differentiation with grade level), I could adapt the strategy by designing stations with increasingly complex tasks or open-ended questions that require explanation rather than simple answers. I could also incorporate evidence-based prompts where students must justify their reasoning, respond to previous groups’ comments, or revise an idea after discussing it with peers. Another useful adaptation would be adding a final reflection station where students connect insights from all stations and evaluate how their understanding has changed. These adjustments would help ensure the Gallery Walk becomes not just an active learning activity, but a meaningful opportunity for students to strengthen their problem-solving and critical-thinking skills.</p>]]></description>
