She obtained her bachelor’s degree in biology (1981) and a master’s degree in child development and Disabilities (1989). As a biologist she worked as a Senior Researcher at the Venezuelan Institute of Scientific Research (IVIC) for 25 years, conducting experiments in Neurochemistry and a very large and important project measuring iron levels in children’s diets.

 When she came to the United States in 2001, she worked in the Psychology Department of the University of Colorado Boulder, doing research in learning and memory, for about 8 years. In 2008 she was hired at the Community College of Denver as a full faculty at the program Early Childhood Education (ECE).

She also teaches ECE classes as an adjunct at the Mountain Community College (CMC) and Metropolitan State University of Denver.

She as a full Faculty was aware of the necessity to teach some classes in Spanish to fulfill the needs ofteachers who lacked enough English knowledge and were already working with children without the training to deliver minimum-quality care. 

She also realized the importance of social-emotional development in children so, she is teaching the training Pyramid Plus in Spanish, for which she got the first Colorado Champion Award in 2022.
