The winner of the games are granted with fortune and food for their district and family. Prim was selected but Katniss cares for her and she volunteers as tribute and takes her place. The male who was selected was Peeta, a person who Katniss sees when she is at the market. I enjoy this book because it shows me how bad a dystopian story can be and I can make some connections from this book that relates to the real world. Reading this made me think of what can I sacrifice for my family. It makes me think how life can be calming because when Katniss left the city, she went to the woods and she found it peacful. It makes me realize how leaving the city and going into the woods is calming because it's relaxing and it feels nice going away for a while to refresh your mind.
A connection that I have with the book is that when Katniss goes into the forest I can relate that to me because whenever I want to find something interesting I just go into the forest and take in what is around me. A interesting part of the plot was that why would Haymitch help Katniss and Peeta on their journey. Another part was that why would they want to create drama. Is it because they want to spice up their attention? I gasp. "I volunteer as tribute!" I really like this quote becayse it shows me how Katniss really cares for Prim and is willing to take her place so she won't die in the games.
Page 39, "Listen," he says. "Getting a knife should be pretty easy, but you've got to get your hands on a bow. That's your best chance." I like this quote because Gale knows that Katniss is really good with the bow so it's best chance of killing people and surviving the games.
Page 157, "I'm relieved Peeta's alive. I tell myself again that if I get killed, his winning will benefit my mother and Prim the most."
