Stepping Up is an early intervention project that uses mentoring to support children and young people who are beginning to show signs of risky or challenging behaviour within school, home or within their local community.

Sessions take place for a full half term - any extensions need to go through NYP SLO Laura/Vicky for approval

Aimed at students aged 16 upwards, it challenges young driver behaviour and ultimately keep this group of young adults safe on our roads

We offer tailored support including 1:1 and group peer support sessions, emotional resilience tools, donations of food, clothes, toys and household items, goal finding &setting, education & training support, signposting & supported introductions to other services to ensure the whole-family receive the support they need, family activities, family wellbeing packs and a client to volunteer pathway.

Charity do have some funding to deliver in schools, however school would need to enquire directly and consider cost implications

Each show has a duration of 1 hour 15 minutes and can be performed for up to 200 students at a time. Many schools invite us to spend a full day, either delivering shows for different year groups or providing follow-on workshops for individual classes.

The charity does have some funding to deliver in schools across York and North Yorkshire, but please discuss directly with charity to enquire if available and possible cost implications.

I have personally seen the Coercive and control session and would 100% recommend.

All our youth services are based on listening to young people and working with them to make sure they get the best out of all the activities or allowing young people to have a voice and educating others to understand them and their experiences.

Operation Choice is a process designed for referring Children and Young People (C&YP) in North Yorkshire (NY), who are found in possession of drugs, into a course of police led educational sessions. In addition, further consideration will be given to referrals into drug service providers and commissioned diversion services. The emphasis being on education and harm reduction. .

The overall aim of Operation Choice is to refer individuals to a drugs diversionary scheme in lieu of traditional criminal justice disposals. Any referral is set to take place outside of custody.

Their workshops take place in schools and are extremely effective in highlighting how conspiracy theories arise and their damaging consequences. Young people are taught to challenge what they see/hear, understand algorithms and to prevent being coerced or groomed into extremist views/behaviours.

As long as the school lists vapes as one of the items they would search for in their "rules" then they have a right to search.

It’s Not Love resources have been designed to help support teachers and professionals working with children and young people aged 11 years plus, to explore and understand about healthy and unhealthy friendships and relationships.

The digital resources include 3 films exploring 4 characters' lives and their experience of interpersonal domestic abuse and coercive control:

Together, the buddy and young person (and practitioner in some instances) will develop a befriending agreement and identify progression routes and goals. The buddy and young person will meet regularly for a period of approximately 6 months. Meetings will follow a simple framework to allow progression and reflection.

Support can range from helping with everyday tasks to offering a listening ear during challenging times. Home-Start York’s work plays a vital role in creating a stronger, more resilient community by ensuring that children have the best possible start in life and empowering families to overcome difficulties. Their work is volunteer-driven and relies on community support

Home Visiting- For parents with children 0-5 years. A volunteer is matched to you and your identified needs, they will provide support to you emotionally each week for a couple of hours, they will help to build your confidence, accompany you to groups or appointments and offer practical support for you with your baby or children in your own home.

School Readiness- Parents with children 3-5 years will receive a weekly home visit to engage in our 10-week school readiness programme. In a confidential, encouraging way parents and children will be supported together to prepare for their school experience. The programme is delivered in a fun, informative and thoughtful manner.

Perinatal Support - From 30+ weeks pregnant a volunteer is matched to you, providing emotional support and guidance for 2-3 hours each week, they will help you prepare practically and emotionally for your baby's arrival, empowering you to build your confidence, as you become a new mum.

Telephone support -We can provide weekly telephone support calls to parents that feel this could work best for you. The same volunteer will phone each week to offer you emotional support and guidance.

Our skilled Health Trainers are able to offer free confidential one-to-one support and guidance, face-to-face or remotely.

Having this accelerated drug testing service can help us save lives by understanding exactly what types of drugs are entering our communities, their purity and any harmful contaminates.

The test through NYDAP will show drug type, purity and any contaminates, but please note it is not of forensic evidential value – it is there to help us intervene early and reduce risk and harm to communities.

What do we need school to do:

If you have had an incident in school where a young person has shown an adverse reaction, to potentially drugs or vape (potentially containing suspected drug oil).

Seize the vape or sample of drug and keep safe

Enquire with your SLO if it should be dealt with via Tel 101 or in slow time via your SLO - this will depend upon the urgency and nature of circumstances

Young people work with a trained befriender, who guides them and champions them each step of the way. Building Connections gives young people tools that can help them build their confidence and better equip them to manage loneliness.

Say maaate to a mate shows how a simple, familiar word can be all you need to interrupt when a friend is going too far without making things awkward, ruining the moment or putting your friendship at risk.

This free offer supports the mandatory PSHE/RSE curriculum and includes:

The Foundation has published a new and free PSHE resource, developed in response to concerns from schools and colleges on the topic of ketamine. This comprises of a staff training video to help them understand what ketamine is, and its associated risks and harms; and a lesson for older students that can be delivered either in one 50 minute slot (or equivalent), or in two 25 minute slots.
