"Literature" 1 Literature, a body of written works. The name has traditionally been applied to those imaginative works of poetry and prose distinguished by the intentions of their authors and the perceived aesthetic excellence of their execution. Literature may be classified according to a variety of systems, including language, national origin, historical period, genre, and subject matter.

"Interview with President 2 Obama" "I loved reading. when I was a kid, partly because I was traveling so much, and there were times where I’d be displaced, I’d be the outsider. Novels taught me the most important things, I learned about being a citizen." President Obama said. I feel President Obama made a very strong and clear statement. Literature help us become a person who can understand people differently.

I can relate my self to her in so many different levels based on her life situation and struggle she goes through. Being from different country and different culture its very hard to start new and try to fit in at the same time.

"Phoenix and Arizona" 8 Thomas was the dreamer, the one who saw the world differently than most. Who would see it brighter than it actually was. Also a helper, that without asking anything in returned helped in any way he could. Victor was the one who seemed almost scared in a way. One that cared too much on how they saw him as. His identity and what he left was overshadowing the greatness he would've become. I think literature shows the story of various characters playing their roles in different settings.

The speaker of "Rite of Passage" observes her son during his birthday party, interacting with other young boys his age. Young people often have to go through a rite of passage, or some kind of traditional, culturally significant test or experience. In this moment, the speaker wonders, what rite of passages will my son be subjected to? What tests must he pass? I question my self that do think same when i see my kid and yes i actually do and wonder what he should do to become successful.

Story made me realize that how important is to know who we are and who we will be. Our past defined us who we are, that's how we get recognized and that become our identity which defines our future. Reading and writing helps me to understand my self and find my true identity.Literature expands our imaginations and refines our moral and social sensibilities. We need to go beyond the appeal to common experience and into the territory of psychological research. People are more prone to do that when the story is set away from home. The emotional situations and moral dilemmas that are the stuff of literature are also exercise for the brain studies suggest, increasing our real-life

Great but very unique example of a characters identity. Cory wanted to play football away from home and Lyons desired to be different from those around him, by aspiring to make a living in music. An example of where people are kept apart from each other by a "fence" is the relationship between Troy and Rose, after she finds out about his infidelity. This drives them apart emotionally, however, there is also a fence that keeps them together, that being their son Cory. Understating each different identity and concept of "Fences".There are positive and negative characters. It depends on how we look at these characters and how we are impressed with them.

Both short stories are from the point of view of young adolescence, one would have to reflect on how an adolescence would remember and process each experience from the short stories. Sammy, who seems to be a young teenager has the courage as a young man to witness an upsetting event to do something about it. Where the young lady that I interpret in the short story Girl, is focused on making sure to obey the expectations of her father as to prove that she is responsible and not a slut as he so much threatens or expects her to turn out to be what she want. It depends on how we look at these characters and how we are impressed with them. However, it mainly depends on the set of our own values, beliefs and tendency, which may have a driving force in our lives and try to guide us in the good or bad direction.
