This quote may be short but it shows what many people can relate to and to show that right now we are writing history and we can make changes to make it better

This quote is very interesting, because the mirror can represent social media/cell phones/TV showing us signs of grandeur and filling our brains with neither false or true realities but we sit there for hours starting into a piece of glass wasting away.

Chapter 2: "MOST publications lighten darker people, because lighter skin and hair reflect more light and are more eye catching, magazines are after all a business".

This quote is very convincing, because basically, the author point out that the lighter skin are more eyes catching rather than darker skin. This resonates: This quote explains how it is not in schools a lot or it is not explained. For Trinity, she says how she grew up in the bronx where she felt that there was more white teachers in the building other than hispanic or Spanish. It was not balanced.

2.) "On top of all this, a true fight for racial justice requires those who benefit and find comfort in white privilege to give something up."

It resonates to show, that getting into white privilege has to be looked into and accomplished but you need someone to be the leader and look into how to make it work with others. To make it equal opportunities.

This resonates with us to show that instead of just focusing on racism, it is getting caught up in all aspects, when the true question is why is white is more dominant? while we should make sure it is more equal.

Megan~ this quote resonates with me because I think about how much everything is slayed out in the world. Like it says in the quote about white being more dominate., it goes beyond that and lets us realize that this is not the only issue we have to fix. It does take one step at a time and I believe it has gotten a lot better over time but can still be worked on for it to be fair equality.

When people are purposely blind to the cries of the people who have had enough of being treated like they're worthless to this nation for centuries while other certain people get a free pass, that is how one knows that this country is still where it was years before.

This quote resonates with me because it is something that you can't exactly pin point what the real issue is. Perhaps, because it is a feeling that varies between one individual to another. Healing in my opinion makes an individual stronger and more knowledgeable about ones self. This quote resonates with me because many people deal with personal things that others don't see happening or don't understand how they can effect that person. People are so quick to judge others without knowing their full story. People deal with personal problems that can't be controlled on a daily basis and everyone surrounding them doesn't put into consideration how much that person could be struggling. Reading over the quote really connected to me and made me start to think deeper into myself, making me question my self and my view on life. Because we all look in the mirror, we all have things we want to change about ourselves, we all have imaginations and visualize ourselves in different situations or wish different in some way. We have desires. We all get caught dreaming about what our life could or could've been. It can be bad when you get so caught up that you can't really see whats in front of you, you lack motivation and ambition. This causes you to be stuck and remain in that "powerless" state. A state where you can't snap out of it and look past those desires and dreams, and see the steps and actions that you will have to take in order for those dreams and desires to come to life.

With me, I used stuck in that state for and it can be depressing. You know what you want, you know what you desire, you're reaching for it, you can see it right ahead of you; but you don't see the invisible walls in front of you, the ones you would have to climb over, climb under, push down, or even lift in order to reach the dream. This quote reminded me about a realization I once had, that its ok to look in the mirror and visualize amazing things for yourself, but also ask yourself "what steps are being taken so that that dream or vision is coming true?".
Think realistic and accept yourself for who are first.

I found this quote resonating with me because I think, this is the quote that best describes my personality in one sentence. I am usually told by my friends and family that I am very direct in front of people, I don't think of the consequences and I should keep my opinions to myself sometimes when it's not the appropriate time. But, on the other hand, I believe that I should continue to make my point and be direct with the other people, especially when I know that I am on the right side. This quote resonates with me because in elementary school, when I lived in Long Island, the principal and staff made it seem that all races and cultural differences were welcome no matter where you came from. When I attended school I observed they would make the black children feel excluded from certain games and activities, which made me move and transfer to a school in the city. This quote resonate to me being that my grandmother went through racism and protested first hand with her voice and body. Not only that but many people of color still to this day including me speaks out on racism all over our digital plat forms and with our bodies. Most white people think that their is not no white privilege but in reality it is. if a black man and a white man were both walking to the store with dark hoodies on 9/10 the black man would face a issue.

This quote resonates with me in a very deep way, throughout my middle/high school years I was very self conscious about my physical appearance. I took on body dysmorphia at age 16, where I would be constantly focused on "flaws" in my physical appearance. I would constantly look in my mirror and wish someone else reflected back. If I looked in the mirror of Erised in High School I would see a skinny, blond haired girl but after over coming body dysmorphia (to an extent) I would see someone very different standing in that mirror today. I would see a well respected teacher who is proud of who she is and where she came from. This resonates with me because I feel that everyone including myself is constantly trying to find and better themselves. However not everyone allows themselves to look at their deepest desires and actively address them in order to make needed changes to reach their dreams. This is because most of us are afraid of trying and failing and or not being enough. Overcoming the fear of failure takes devotion but not being afraid of failure does not guarantee that it wont happen. It takes a lot of strength to be able to confront the fact that you WILL fail in some aspects of life. Realizing what you want out life is a journey that will never end. I just recently came to this realization myself. This excerpt resonates with my field of study, English literature, and my advocacy for social justice among marginalized groups. The words “complexity” and “humanity” evoke a sense of understanding that racial groups, alongside other identities, are not rigid, or fixed, so that under-represented people— their culture, communities, experiences, hopes & dreams— their lives are trivialized and reduced to a single facet that exists to oppose the “dominant” group.
