The theme of this book so far is being considerate builds relationships. Some evidence that proves this is when Steve's little brother Jeffery would give him random things such as remotes and tissues. Steven would say he hated it at the time, but now he realises his brother was just caring about him (Sonnenblick Pg 70). The theme is shown by his little brother Jeffery being so kind and caring.

One theme that I think fits the story Fuzzy Mud is think before you act. The example is that Chad is fighting Marshal because Marshal is smarter than him and Marshal made Chad look like a fool. (Sachar pg. 32). Since Chad was jealous of Marshal, and he wants to "set things right" he wanted to beat Marshal up, but then the events turned and Chad was the one who got hurt.

I chose the theme change is hard. I picked this theme because I have seen it a lot in the book. For example, when Carley goes to school, she is picked on by a classmate. (Hunt pg. 54) The theme is shown because Carley is a new student and she is having a hard time fitting in at school. Carley's situation is always changing. She has been alone and confused. That is why I think the theme change is hard fits with Carley's situation.

One theme in the book, Refugee, is that if something is too good to be true, it probably is. In the text it says, "He's a Nazi in disguise. He decides who lives and who dies." (Gratz p. 133) This shows a theme because the ship Josef and his family are on was supposed to go straight to Cuba, but there is a Nazi on the ship who decides who dies.

This is shown in the book one way by the boys wanted to get a cake for Ms.Bixby but they could not because they did not have enough money but Brand says"we're getting the whole cake" ( Anderson pg 84).
