If I had known what was to come, I would have told myself to expand my vocabulary a bit more when I had time, and review what I had learned in sophomore year over the summer so I would have been better prepared for this year and writing essays would have gone smoother.

Most Challenging - This last week has been pretty challenging because we've had to write and revise essays practically every day.
Most Stressful - The most stressful moment in this class was probably trying to finish reading the whole last part of Huck Finn in one might after procrastinating for a week. Even though I had a very busy week, I should have forcibly created time to read at least 5 pages a day. Easiest - The easiest homework assignments in this class were taking notes on "They Say, I Say" and the "Language of Composition" book because all you had to do was copy down and summarize the main points of the chapters.

Reflecting on the past year, I think I've grown a lot in every aspect of English, specifically in writing. Up until last year, my teachers had made me focus mostly on the grammatical aspects of essays but this year has been a whole new experience for me in the sense that I've learned about rhetorical devices (which I haven't heard until this year), and learned more about the purpose of writing essays rather than just writing them for a grade.

What I Hope We Do

Next semester, I hope we spend some time going over the major rhetorical devices that are most commonly utilized. Since we write a lot of rhetorical essays, it would be helpful being able to immediately recognize the types of devices that an author uses, and writing essays would be much easier. I know that we can study rhetorical devices through the extra credit videos, but it would be nice if we could go over them more specifically in class rather than generally.
