I chose single gender classrooms because I thought that it would be an interesting topic to research and I wanted to see if single gender classrooms are better than coed. There isn't a lot of research about this topic but I tried to find as much as possible.

Single gender classes have lots of benefits for girls, boys, and teachers. The teachers can learn how to work with just boys, girls, or both. Boys and girls get a higher score on big tests and homework. The boys can pay more attention to their work instead of distracting the girls. In average the girls get more proficient in single gender classes than the boys.

Single gender classrooms and coed are both different from each other. Coed is mixed gender classes. Single gender graduates have a higher academic skills. Single gender classes may not prepare the kids for coed for their future. In some schools parents want same gender classes as an option. In the US most colleges are coed.

Single gender classrooms have pros and cons. Some pros are, it helps break down stereotypes. Girls mature faster so the boys wont hold them back by screwing around with their friends. The students get less distraction in class. Single gender classes also have cons. Some cons are, boys mature slower, so potentially girls are positively influencing them. Not all teachers are prepared to teach same gender classes. Children at a young age should be taught to communicate with the other gender.

Single gender classrooms have many advantages. In some schools they have practiced and has largely been confined to private schools for more than a century. Students achieve more, get more work done in class and learn better with single gender classrooms. Almost immediately the girls became more confident with raising their hands and saying their opinion. The boys started to comprehend more in all of the core classes also.

I learned that single gender classes have many advantages, many benefits, pros, and cons. While kids are at school they can be enjoying it because they are with their friends, instead of not wanting to go. Children should be treated equally and it doesn't matter if you are a boy or girl.
