Our initial Ideas

The way this piece formed was due to finding a 'Wah-Wah' (flanger) effect on my amp, this let us on to creak a 70's Funk stile track with the choppy-ness of the guitars, the bass sliding and the soulful vocals.
We then wanted a slow, soulful chorus to contrast the fast tempo verses. Then when Julia's Vocals came in we had a 3rd section (bridge/pre chorus) that kept the fast tempo, disco feel flowing, and this led straight back into a chorus. The song then ends with a drum solo from mitchel and a final verse.

Performance

I thought the performance went very well and was one of our most innovative performances. Its a genre that nobody has really taken on before so i was very happy when our final ideas formed a soulful disco track. I think there were some areas for improvement but i think overall it was very successful. I think the way we had the drum solo towards the end, building up into a crescendo and back into the chorus.
I think maybe the drums could have been a bit more simple, with a few less fills and more of a simple disco beat, but the drums were still very well executed.
I think the two guitars worked well together, along with the classical element of the flute and the sliding bass, all the instruments worked well together with Jess's vocals sitting on top of them.
I believe we added an element of fusion with the slow and calm choruses that common in lots of indie and folk songs.

I believe the effect i used on my amp was a very suitable effect for the genre and it guided us toward the disco vibe. The sharp, attacking chords on top of the instruments really gave it dancey feel.
