         <description><![CDATA[<div><strong>Status of civil rights for LGBT in Canada</strong><br>The LGBT community has every right an heterosexual Canadian citizen would have. In Canada it is legal to be part of the LGBT community since 1967. Same-sex marriage in Canada became legal with The Civil Marriage Act. LGBT soldiers are permitted to serve in the Canadian military. Same sex adoption is legal. The right to change the person’s gender surgically or not is legal as well. The public opinion if the society should society accept homosexuality, 80% voted yes and 14% voted no.<br><br><strong>Point of view of Canada</strong><br>-no blood donations<br>-same sex marriage legal<br>-same sex adoption legal<br>-right to change legal gender <br>-homosexuals serving openly in military<br>-prohibition of discrimination based on sexual orientation and/or gender identity<br>-prohibition of discrimination based on sexual orientation and/or gender identity in employment, including hiring, promotion, termination, harassment, etc.<br><br><strong>Proposals for a solution to this dispute </strong><br>-prevent torture and inhuman treatment<br>-protect individuals from homophobic violence<br>-eliminate laws criminalizing homosexuality and transgender people<br>-prohibit discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity<br>-protect freedom of expression for all LGBT people<br>-don't add religion policies to governments<br><br><strong>APA Citations</strong><br>-Constitution Act 1982 Document.
