Major Types of Seeds

"The two major types of seed plants are the gymnosperms (seeds in cones) and angiosperms(seeds in ovaries of flowers). There are only about 1,000 living species of gymnosperms, whereas there are hundreds of thousands of living species of angiosperms. Most modern gymnosperms are trees with woody trunks. The majority are conifers such as pine trees."
I chose this because it shows the two major classifications of seeds and it a good starting point to understand all the different types of seeds.

This shows the difference between the two major groups of seeds and where they are found. This is important because it helps us understand the seeds better because we have more information about cones and fruits and can now label each seed and understand them.

This diagram shows the difference between the makeup of an angiosperm and a gymnosperm. This is important because it shows the makeup of each seed and helps show how the seeds function.

"There are around a million different types of seeds, so division of a specific type of seed is a bit difficult."
According to this site, there are seeds for cereal plants, fruit plants, vegetables, grass, herbs, seeds eaten raw (edible), cooked seeds (edible), beverage seeds, bird feed seeds, and many many others. I chose this website because it gave us a lot of information on seed varieties and can help us see how many there really are.

I chose this video because it shows more what the average person would want to know and its not too overwhelming, but still very informative. This video shows 3 different types of seeds- heirloom seeds, hybrid seeds, and GMO seeds and the effects they put on gardening, where the come from, etc. It's a perfect everyday seed tutorial!
