When I arrive at the venue I need to find the people I contacted so they can show me where the stage is. Then I need to set up some drum cymbals to go with the drumkit to make sure they are not too far away for me to reach so I don't hurt my back. I also need to set up the keyboard and with a mic stand position the microphone to where I want it. The keyboard and microphone are D.I. (Direct Input). Then I have make a risk assessment (tape wires for keys & microphone, ear protection). I must do a P.A.T (Portable appliance testing) test to make sure the electrical equipment is safe to use. The next thing I need to do is introduce myself to the sound engineer. Then we should do a sound check to make sure the keyboard and microphone sound good for my gig. I also need to know where the fire exits are in case of emergencies and where the changing rooms are.
