Harry Kalven Jr. writes about his fathers research and journaling about former president, Richard Nixon's, "Watergate" allegations. His father wrote about the events that took place and weather or not Nixon should be tried for his crimes. His father planned on publishing the article only a week after Nixon was pardoned for his offenses, rendering the article useless.

How it is connected to the Constitution

After Richard Nixon was caught stealing information from his competition in his race for presidency, everything went downhill for him. He used the information he stole to successfully win the presidential race. It wasn't until after he won the presidency that he got caught. He was almost certainly going to be the first president to be removed from office from impeachment. Impeachment a fair punishment for what Nixon committed, it says so in the constitution: Article II, Section 4: The President, Vice President and all civil Officers of the United States, shall be removed from Office on Impeachment for, and Conviction of, Treason, Bribery, or other high Crimes and Misdemeanors. However, he resigned before he could be removed from office and was given a presidential pardon, meaning his all his offenses were dismissed.

How the issues of the article were controversial

The contents of the article were very controversial, especially at the time the article was supposed to be published. Richard Nixon committed terrible offenses against his opponents in the presidential race, and he got away with it without much of a punishment. He was forced to resign from office, but when it comes to legal punishment, his pardon made it so he couldn't be punished for what he did. This sparked many controversies in the U.S.

Analysis of how the article demonstrates the relevance of the U.S. Constitution in today’s society

The article demonstates the relevance of the U.S Constitution in today's society in an important way. Richard Nixon was not impeached from presidency, but if he hadn't resigned, he would have certainly been impeached and removed from office. Recently, former president, Donald Trump, was impeached. He wasn't removed from office, but he was impeahced twice during is 4 year term.
