Participants choose to be one of the three sounds of a drum machine. Subdivide the board into beats (4 or a different number) and note where participants should make their chosen sound. Count everybody in at first and once people are comfortable with where their sound should be, stop counting out loud. You can have a cowbell signify the first beat.

Put instruments around the room and let participants drift towards the ones that interest them, try them out, and explore. After five to ten minutes of this, ask them to share their favourite music note on that instrument. Go around in a circle playing one note each, creating a shared music piece. Let people know they can change their favourite note when it's their turn again.

You can use Meredith Monk's way of conducting for inspiration.

Start by inviting everyone into a circle, putting yourself in the middle. Introduce a music loop you're singing and invite others to join in with their own music loops. Say they can copy yours or their neighbour's if that feels more comfortable. Introduce gestures that indicate quieter and louder volumes, stops, and starts. Conduct the music group until someone else chooses to step in to conduct.
