We have been able to survive without it even with the higher usage rate of oil. It has already proven to be a bad idea, with 3 oil spills of 150+ gallons of oil. Fortunately, the spills didn't effect the quality of the water. A lot of this world is focused in money. It's always on our mind. And even though this pipe is going through sacred land of the Sioux tribe, potentially affecting their clean water and enraging many environmentalists, its more cost effective so the government is going ahead with it.
