What happened at the service site?
On Friday, March 29, 2019 Hoke County Schools partnered with Feed the Children to provide supplies to LEAs that were affected by Hurricane Florence and Hurricane Michael. The Hoke County Schools Student Support Services Department hosted the distribution site for Feed the Children. The HCS support staff members were at the distribution site at 8:15 am to set up the refreshment stand which included breakfast danishes, assorted juice, bottled water, chips, and assorted nuts. During this time we also designated parking for our traveling guest. This was to ensure that guest would be able to enter and exit the drive thru at their designated pick up time.

Overall i think the service learning project had a very positive and insightful influence on my everyday life as a social worker. “One team, one goal,” this is the Hoke County Schools motto that we use throughout the school district. As I worked to complete my service project, I was able to see the one team with one goal as we teamed together with other departments in our district for one common goal. I was fortunate to work with people whom I typically have little or no social interaction with throughout the day. My biggest take away from not only this service project, but the course as well has been effective leadership styles. A leader should be effective, flexible, and emphasize the importance of relationships. Keeping those attributes in mind, I did my best to be a good leader who not only delegated task, but also participated in task work as well.
