Question 1:
How do you teach grammar in your classroom?

-> Personally speaking, I am a teacher for secondary school where the students' English level is not high. Therefore, I usually use grammar-translation method. I will break down the structure elements and give them the meaning of the words for the students to practice. In exercises, I normally give students a handout to fill in the blanks with a certain words in the structure first, and then I would let them reorder the sentences to remind them of the grammar.

-> This may be a outdated method, but it is the only one which can help students at low level learn the structure.

What kinds of instruction did you apply in your lesson? (explicit/implicit/ focus on forms/ focus on form instruction)

-> As I said, I mainly focus on forms. The secondary school's grammar is rather easy to be generalised into certain structures, thus I would break down the elements and let students to practise.

-> For example, I taught students about past simple. I would use questions to analyse the examples so that students can understand the form of them first. "This is 'watch'. What does it mean? Do you know which tense does this verb belong to? Now, if I put ed - it would be 'watched' - it means I watched something in the past and now I don't. (Give some more examples like: cooked, played, washed, etc). So, when we want to say you did something in the past, you need to put what at the end of the verb? - ed right?"
(please give me a specific example and detailed explanation)

Question 2:
How do you often apply L1 in your classrooms to facilitate your students' L2 learning? Give specific examples.

-> I use grammar translation method a lot. Therefore, L1 is an absolute requirement in the lessons. I use L1 to translate meaning of vocabulary and grammar elements (what/ is/ your/ name?) for students to understand better.
