This image is a good representation of how the Black Lives Matter Movement has been treated in the past. When shocking things happen, like the killing of George Floyd in 2020, they get publicized because at that moment it catches people's attention. This is before they become numb to it and move on to the next "relevant" topic. People of color have been fighting for equal rights in this country since the colonizers of America brought the first slaves over. Equality shouldn't be put on the back burner, it should be at the front of our minds. Like the image says we as people of color are not a trend and our lives still matter.

Mindfulness in regards to mental health not only improves cognitive function, but has emotional and psychological benefits. Those dealing with anxiety specifically learn to distinguish between a problem-solving thought and a nagging worry that has no benefit through mindfulness. Our mind is a powerful organ, it is our duty to take care of it. Just like taking care of our body by working out, we must treat our mental health as a priority as well.

Discrimination has been an issue for centuries. It has almost always been the case where there is always somewhere in the world where a person is not accepted or welcomed by society. The reason may be because of one's gender, financial status, sexual orientation, skin color, hair color, eye color, birthmark, language, religion, ethnic background, disability, etc. Every place in the world has at some point been the source of discrimination for a particular group of people for one reason or another. Here in the current day USA, one's sexual orientation, skin color, ethnic origins, religion, disability, and gender are the main causes for discrimination. Some of these causes are causes for discrimination more so than others. People have not only lost opportunities for better lives due to discrimination, but many people have also lost their lives because of this. We must end discrimination once and for all before we cause the end of the world tearing one another apart. Discrimination must end and equality must reign true.

River City is one of 2 private schools in San Antonio that offer programs geared towards children who suffer from learning challenges. Challenges range from ADHD to Dyslexia and Asperger's Syndrome. RCCS provides useful resources for students looking to enter the college field to culinary and volunteer programs while focusing on a Christ-centered environment. RCCS is a full Non-Profit Organization with a mission to enable the youth of this small San Antonio community through faith and the Holy Spirit.

Discrimination has plagued the world for centuries. There is no place in the world that has not at some point discriminated against a particular group of people in some way for some reason. The reason usually is based on skin color, religion, ethnic origin, language, disability, background, gender, sexual orientation, hair color, eye color, or other similar reasons. Some people are seen as more privileged than others that are discriminated against. Those who are discriminated against are paid less than their peers, are persecuted, are bullied, are abused, are attacked, are hated without good cause, and more. It is high time that discrimination ended and all people are treated equally. There is no true equality until discrimination no longer plagues the world.

The American Dream is the idea that the United States is a land of opportunity and if one is hungry to make as much money as possible & make a good living for themselves, they should come here. However, in current times when we see immigrants attempt to do that, they are marginalized in their workplaces; as being overworked, underpaid, dangerous work conditions and facing scrutiny for being an immigrant. But, when we look back to our ancestors who came to this country centuries ago, these people were of different nationalities across the world, who came to this country to escape persecution from their home country and seek new opportunities here. If there were no problems doing that then, why are there problems doing that now?

"Women's Rights are Human Rights", it true, women are humans but some people seem to forget. It is something that for some reason is still being fought for today when it should be something that isn't questioned or debated. However, many people still want to bring up the topic of gender norms and how women are cooks and cleaners that belong at home. This mindset is one that is harmful and perpetuates the idea that women aren't equal to men but rather, servants to their existence.

Crisaeus Valadez: Lack of Diversity in Art Institutions

For years, art institutions have been primarily white and male centered, even with increased diversity in their contemporary art collections. There are still many curators who are overlooked because of their race, gender, or background. According to a 2015 survey, 84 percent of the country's museum staff (curators, educators, conservators and upper-level administrators) was non-Hispanic white; blacks were 4 percent, Asian Americans 6 percent. There were zero Native Hawaiians and Native Americans. This is a systemic problem that has only recently been addressed because of things like the Black Lives Matter movement and the rise of AAPI hate crimes. The majority of the problem lies within the hoops curators have to jump through that were put in place specifically to keep people of color out of these positions decades ago. There is also the issue of gentrification in neighborhoods that house most US museums and a lack of community outreach.

Planned Parenthood has been helping women and men for over a century. Although they do a lot of good such as STD testing, breast exams, and Pap smears, it's constantly being attacked by state legislators. The reason why is because they provide abortion when a woman requests it. Only 3% of abortions are performed in a Planned Parenthood facility. It's enough to get people upset about this organization. Texas needs Planned Parenthood to stay open, and Texas and other states can benefit from having this organization.
