At the end of every lesson there is an activity that is aligned to the exit ticket for that day that has my students use the knowledge they have learned about the past and relate it to the current world that they live in. 
- Any time I send my student off for independent practice I have practiced the three praise before redirection, I have noticed that usually when a student is off task it is because they need the expectations , or directions restated, rather than disciplining the student that is off task I will praise the ones that are and positively narrate what they are doing correctly (excellent focus, writing with urgency, sitting snug in the desk, etc.) and I have noticed that impacts the behavior/performance of those who are off task. ]]> 2018-04-14 03:42:09 UTC https://padlet.com/andrea_janssen/8ha03y3al1t0/wish/251757849 https://padlet.com/andrea_janssen/8ha03y3al1t0/wish/327316802 I have my students set a goal for themselves at the beginning of each week and track their progress. During the week, I will ask them about their progress toward their goal. I can tell that it makes a difference for intrinsic motivation because I can see them making loftier goals and how proud they are when they achieve those goals.
