over time human shoulders have changed shape and but still have the same use as apes did. Lucy used her arms more to gather and collect for and to swing from branches, humans don't do much of that now so over time humans cant bend them as for as Lucy could because we aren't as flexible as she was.

In addition to us becoming taller, our arm length became more relative to our height. This is because we became more of a land-based creature and had less need for tree-climbing features.

During Lucy's time she needed a strong upper body to climb trees. Her leg muscles were not as strong because when climbing a tree you mostly use your arms.
