In my Fundations classes I over act sounds so they will remember. For example, short vowel and long vowel sounds. I model and make the kids model short vowel grab your face, and the vowel is long Stretch your arms.

Each week, I assess what my students have mastered and where they are facing challenges. This week, my first graders are having difficulty with the sounds of "o" and "a." Next week, I plan to focus specifically on these sounds to help them improve.

I tend to make daily notes, since I have about 5 kids at a time. But a dictation is not just the daily but everything we have done the whole week.
